The weather in Seville in March is usually lovely: warm, sunny afternoons, fresh mornings and cool evenings. T-shirt weather at lunchtime, a jacket at night. Spring showers still happen, and a rainy week can hit Holy Week itself. When rain threatens, brotherhoods can decide not to go out, which is a real disappointment in the city.
On 28 March 2027 the clocks go forward an hour, and evenings suddenly stay light until after 20:30.

Orange blossom
From the second half of March into April, the thousands of orange trees in the streets and patios flower, and the scent of azahar fills the city, strongest in the evening. The exact timing depends on the weather, so late March and early April are the safest bet. The gardens of the Real Alcázar and the lanes of Santa Cruz are at their best.
Semana Santa (21–28 March 2027)
Holy Week is the most important event of the year in Seville. About 60 brotherhoods walk in procession from their churches to the cathedral and back, with huge floats (pasos), robed nazarenos, bands and incense. The key night, the Madrugá, runs from Holy Thursday into Good Friday, 25–26 March 2027.

Lent before Holy Week
In the weeks before, bakeries sell torrijas, bands give concerts of processional marches, and costaleros rehearse at night in the streets. It is a quieter way to feel the build-up.
Festival de Jerez
The flamenco festival in Jerez de la Frontera, an hour away by train, usually runs into early March.
Crowds and hotel prices
Before Holy Week, March is busy but relaxed. A double in a good central hotel typically costs around €130–250 a night in spring, sometimes less in early March. Book the Alcázar and the cathedral a few days ahead.
During Semana Santa, central hotels often double or triple their prices and ask for minimum stays. Book six to twelve months ahead. - Light layers: T-shirts, a jumper and a light jacket for the evenings
- A light waterproof or a small umbrella
- Comfortable shoes: during Holy Week you will stand and walk for hours
- Respectful clothes for churches, and something smarter for Holy Thursday, when many locals dress formally
- Sunglasses and sun cream: the March sun is strong
- A small bag you can wear in front: pickpockets work the Holy Week crowds
