Mornings are pleasant until about 11:00. From early afternoon until around 19:00 the sun is fierce and the streets empty. Then the city comes back to life: around the summer solstice the sun sets after 21:45, and dinner starts late.
Plan your day in three parts: sights in the morning, a long lunch and a rest (or a pool) in the afternoon, and a walk, a river cruise or a terrace in the evening.
What’s on
Noches en los Jardines del Real Alcázar
On summer nights, the gardens of the Real Alcázar host a season of concerts, from flamenco and classical music to jazz and world music. It usually runs from early summer into September, and tickets are sold on the Alcázar’s official website, often selling out. It is one of the best evenings you can have in Seville in summer. Open-air cinema and summer nights
From late June, open-air cinemas and summer concert programmes start in patios, gardens and on rooftops. A boat trip on the Guadalquivir at sunset is another good way to spend a June evening.
Corpus Christi
Seville’s Corpus Christi procession falls on the Thursday 60 days after Easter. In 2027 it is on 27 May (see Seville in May); in 2028 it falls in June, on 15 June.
Noche de San Juan (23 June)
On the shortest night of the year, the beaches of Cádiz and Málaga fill with bonfires and midnight swims. In Seville itself it is low-key. See the Cádiz day trip.
Jacarandas
In early June, the jacarandas along the avenues are often still in purple flower.
Crowds and hotel prices
After the spring high season, June is calmer. The Alcázar is still busy in the morning, so book a day or two ahead and take the first slot, when it is cooler. The Alcázar is on its summer hours, 9:30 to 19:00.
Hotel prices are mid-season in June and drop further towards July. Choose a hotel with good air-conditioning, and ideally a pool.
