Is this a good month to visit?
Only if you handle heat well. July is one of the two hottest months in Seville: average highs of 36 °C, often above 40 °C in the afternoon, and no rain at all. In exchange, hotels are at their cheapest, and the evenings are long and lively.

The heat is dry, but strong. The hottest hours are from about 15:00 to 20:00, and in a heatwave the thermometer can pass 42 °C. The lowest temperatures come just before dawn; evenings often stay above 30 °C until late.
How to plan a July day:
- 9:00–13:00: the big sights, starting with the Real Alcázar at opening time
- 14:00–19:00: a long lunch indoors, then a siesta, a pool or an air-conditioned museum
- From 20:30: a walk along the river, a rooftop bar, dinner from 21:30 or later
What’s on
Velá de Santa Ana (late July)
The Velá de Santa Ana is the oldest and best-loved neighbourhood festival in Triana, held in the days around 26 July, the feast of Saint Anne, patron of Triana. Calle Betis and the riverside fill with stalls, music, fried fish and late-night terraces. The highlight is the cucaña: young people try to walk along a greased pole over the Guadalquivir to grab a flag at the end, and most of them fall into the river.

Summer sales
The summer sales (rebajas) usually start on 1 July. Shop in the morning on Calle Sierpes and Calle Tetuán, when the streets are shaded by awnings.
Theme park and water park

The beach

Crowds and hotel prices
July is low season. Locals leave for the coast, and tourist crowds are lighter than in spring, although tour groups still fill the Alcázar and the cathedral in the morning. Book a day or two ahead for the first slots.
Hotel prices are the lowest of the year, and upmarket hotels become affordable. A pool is almost essential. - A wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses and high-factor sun cream
- A refillable water bottle (drink more than you think you need)
- Swimwear for the pool
