Methodology
We selected statistics from the organisations that collect the data: statistics offices (INE, the Andalusian regional statistics institute), the regional and national governments, airport and port authorities, AEMET, monument authorities and industry bodies such as Exceltur. We did not use statistics roundups. Each figure was written as one sentence in our own words, with the year the data describes. A script then opened every source page, confirmed it was live and that the exact figure appears on it; for PDF and JavaScript-driven pages we extracted the file text and checked the figure there. We then read each claim against the evidence from the page. Eleven statistics come from secondary sources (news outlets reporting a named primary study) where the primary page could not be opened; they are labelled in the source name. No figure was rounded, converted or calculated by us. Where two official sources differ (for example the Alhambra’s 2025 visitor total, 2,726,861 in the Patronato’s own report and 2,726,871 in a Junta de Andalucía press release), we used the body that counts the visitors. Data years differ by source: most describe 2025, some 2024 or the first half of 2026, and climate averages are AEMET’s 1981-2010 standard values for airport weather stations. Two disclosures: the Junta de Andalucía and INE publish most Andalusia-specific figures, so together they supply about 40% of the statistics, above the 12% single-publisher limit we normally apply; we kept the larger share rather than add weaker sources. Some topics are thin because no primary page could be opened (for example Andalucía-only full-year spending per tourist). This page has no first-party data. We refresh it quarterly; the next review is due 5 January 2027.
