The Feria de Abril usually takes place two to three weeks after Easter and lasts a week. With Easter on 28 March 2027, the 2027 Feria is expected in April 2027. We will add the official dates as soon as the city confirms them.
What it is
The Feria de Abril (April Fair) is Seville’s great party: a week of music, dancing, horses and rebujito (manzanilla sherry with lemonade) in a temporary town of more than a thousand striped tents, the casetas, in the Real de la Feria in the Los Remedios district.
It starts on the night of the pescaíto (a fried-fish dinner) with the alumbrado, when thousands of lanterns and the huge entrance gate light up at midnight, and ends a week later with fireworks over the river.
How the casetas work
Most casetas are private: they belong to families, groups of friends, clubs and companies, and you need to be invited to go in. Don’t be offended if a doorman says no.
There are also public casetas open to everyone, run by the city districts and political parties. They are busier and simpler, but have the same music, food and dancing. If you know someone in Seville, ask them to invite you to their caseta: it is the best way to see the real Feria.
Schedule: day and night
- Day (from about 13:00): the paseo de caballos. Riders and horse-drawn carriages parade through the streets of the fairground. People eat and drink in the casetas.
- Evening and night: dancing sevillanas until the early hours. The Feria goes on until dawn.
- Calle del Infierno: a big funfair with rides next to the Real, popular with families.
- Bullfights: the Maestranza bullring holds its main season around the Feria.
Where to stay and when to book
Prices rise sharply during Feria week, although less than during Semana Santa. The fairground is in Los Remedios, south of Triana, so Triana, the Arenal and Los Remedios are the most convenient areas. Book two to four months ahead. See where to stay in Seville.
Etiquette and tips
- What to wear: local women wear the traje de flamenca (flamenco dress), and men a suit and tie. Visitors in smart-casual clothes are welcome, but dress up a bit.
- Getting there: walk from Triana or the centre, or take the special buses and taxis. The Real is closed to cars.
- Rebujito comes in jugs (jarras) to share. Pace yourself: the Feria is long.
- Learn sevillanas: some dance schools give short classes in the weeks before the Feria.
